My Minute

It’s almost ten.

As I’m sitting down writing this, the kitchen counter is still full of dirty dishes and laundry is still waiting to be transferred to the dryer. Unfolded clothes have been on standby for quite a while and the ironing board has been resting vertically against the wall too long for comfort.

E-mails are requesting to be answered and the ‘to-do’ paperwork pile is, well… piling.

Yet, here I am: seated at my desk in perfect silence.

Because, for a couple of minutes in a very long day, I deserve a pause from it all. For these couple of minutes, it’s great to be just me. Not a mother, not a wife, not an employee. Just me.

To all ladies out there doing it all: may we all be able to find ourselves once in a while.
